Meet the Team
Ana Walker has a long history of people focused service delivery in the Private, Public and Not for Profit sectors. She was born in Spain but has lived in Far North Queensland for 30 years.
Ana completed her training in Mediation in 1999 and at this time was selected to join the mediation panel for the Cairns Dispute Resolution Centre, part of the Department of Justice and Attorney General. Mediation has become both a career path and a passion for Ana as well as providing an exceptional tool box of useful life skills.
After graduating from James Cook University with a Business degree majoring in Human Resources, Ana became a Family Law Mediator with Relationships Australia and was quickly promoted to Mediation Program Leader and Clinical Supervisor. When the Family Law Act changed in 2009 Ana qualified as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, and went on to train and assess other practitioners across Queensland.
Ana spent several years as Human Resources Manager at a large aged Care facility over 3 locations and employing 230 staff. Most recently she has worked for the Training Department in Brisbane's Dispute Resolution Centre, delivering and assessing training for other Accredited Practitioners. Ana is also currently mediating Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal for several Queensland Courts.
Throughout the last 20 years Ana has continued to mediate in all areas but specialises in Workplace and Family Law disputes involving property and children.
Abby Wildsmith is an experienced Mediator, Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner and Human Resources Manager offering a positive and supportive approach. Abby originates from England and has lived and worked in Cairns for over 11 years. With a genuine passion for mediation and resolving disputes of all kinds, Abby firmly believes that patience and a positive attitude are essential requirements in managing high conflict situations.
Abby graduated from Staffordshire University in the UK in 1995 with an Honours degree in Business & Human Resources. Shortly after emigrating to Cairns in 2005, Abby completed Mediation Training with the Cairns Dispute Resolution Centre part of the Department of Justice and Attorney General. Abby then qualified as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP) following the change in the Family Law Act in 2009 and worked as a Family Law Mediator with Relationships Australia Queensland and latterly as a Clinical Supervisor in the FDRP program. Most recently Abby has fine-tuned her mediation practice re-accrediting under National Mediator Accreditation Standards body (NMAS), Australia’s leading body for mediation and arbitration.
Abby has also worked as a Human Resources Manager in the private sectors of telecommunications, manufacturing, mining and exploration, and in the not-for-profit aged care industry. During this time, Abby managed HR issues at a senior level and continues to mediate employment issues.
